Loving couple Christie and Wesley Werts began their love story five years ago and became a blended family when they married.
The merger of Christie’s daughter, Megan, with Wesley’s children, Austin and Dakota, created a beautiful family.
However, little did they know that their love story would take a unique turn, leading them to welcome a miracle baby, Levi, into their lives through adoption.
Levi’s journey to adoption is a testament to the couple’s resilience and determination. The Werts family has been waiting 16 months for the adoption process to be completed and can’t wait to bring their little boy home.
However, Levi’s adoption story has a touching twist that feels like a dream come true for Christie and her family. Born in Texas in August 2021, Levi’s biological mother, Wesley’s former partner, faced challenges related to drug use during pregnancy. Tragically, she passed away four days after Levi’s premature birth, at 33 weeks, a victim of addiction and complications linked to the c-oronavirus, according to Newsweek.
The couple found out about Levi when Wesley was given the devastating news about his ex-wife by her sister. Christie, who had experienced foster homes herself, was determined to provide Levi with a stable and loving home.
What’s even more remarkable is that Christie continued to dream of a blonde, blue-eyed baby for three months before even learning about Levi. This dream became a significant factor in her decision to adopt Levi when she found out about his existence.
The Werts family flew from Ohio to Texas to meet Levi through Child Protective Services, and their first meeting went exactly like Christie’s dream. “When I walked in and saw this blonde baby with blue eyes, I immediately fell in love. It was a very surreal feeling. He was my son,” she said.
While the adoption process is often challenging, especially for infants, the Werts family faced further obstacles. Selling their house in Ohio and relocating to Texas for court proceedings, they had to endure a legal process that involved the termination of Levi’s biological father’s parental rights.
After 16 months of home visits, interviews, and court appearances, Levi’s adoption was finalized and the couple was finally able to bring their baby boy home.
However, despite the heartwarming nature of the story, Christie faced criticism from some internet users who questioned her decision to share the story online.
“I mean, poor baby, he’s gonna see this when he grows up and is gonna give him a lot of depression and more,” someone remarked.
“Some things you don’t share on the media, and this is one of them?” said another user.
Other people were happy for the couple and wrote that they wished the new family a happy life.
