When Stuart McColl found a Christmas letter, he never could have expected how emotional it would be.
The letter, covered in hearts, was found tied to a balloon in an abandoned field. In the letter the boy talked about how he missed his father and explained he had been taken into foster care because his mum was ill. He added for Christmas he wanted a letter from his dad who was ‘in heaven’. He also wanted a few other football related items, including a Real Madrid kit.
The letter reads:
“Hi dad, just writing you a letter to tell you I’m missing you and tell you news!
I’m sure you know I’m in foster care cause mom is sick and my ear is blocked from Monday.
Tomorrow we’re leaving. I really miss school and you. I know you are up in heaven but are you safe?
Oh ya before I go here’s my dream and Xmas list.
My dream is for you my daddy to put a note under my pillow that you wrote.
My xmas list: boots/studs, Astros, rebounder net, new Premier League ball, Real Madrid kit
Bye daddy love you.”
Three sons left home to make their fortunes, and they all did very, very well for themselves.
They got together recently and were discussing what they each had done to benefit their aging mother. ‘Well,’ said the first one, ‘I bought mom a huge house in Beverly Hills.’
‘I bought her a Mercedes and hired a full-time driver for her.’
‘I’ve beaten you both,’ said the third. ‘I bought her a miraculous parrot that can talk to her.’
A little later, the mother sent out a thank you letter to all three sons.
‘Gerald, the house you bought was too big. I only live in one room, and I have to clean the entire house. Milton, the car is useless because I don’t go anywhere; I’m too old. But Robert, you know exactly what I like. The chicken was delicious.’
