Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” starts to play, only for crowd to lose it when the mood switches

When it comes to spectacles that truly take my breath away, ice dancing is definitely one of the most powerful.

More expressive than figure skating, ice dancers use their footwork and body movements to convey expressions and feelings that appeal to even the most frozen of hearts (see what I did there).

A big part of success or failure lies in the music, which is why Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron set the bar of expectation high when they elected Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”.

Dressed in a red dress and a neutral black suit creating an eye-catching contrast, Gabriella and Guillaume made their way out into the center of the ice rink and their audience from the word Go.

With Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” filling the audience’s ears, the two glide around the rink with sublime grace, in sync with each other, enjoying every moment of their performance.

As someone who can barely stand upright on ice skates, I can not even begin to fathom the level of mastery Gabriella and Guillaume have. Years of stringent discipline and unwavering dedication mean that they’re capable of delivering a show that literally leaves people wrestling with their own emotions.
