An Amish girl and her mother were visiting a mall.
They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny silver walls that could move apart and back together again.
The girl asked, “Mother, what is it?
The mother, who had never seen an elevator, replied, “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. I don’t know what it is.”
While the girl and her mother watched with amazement, an old man in a wheelchair rolled up to the moving walls and pressed a button.
The walls opened and the man rolled between them into a small room.
The walls closed and the daughter and her mother watched the small numbers above the walls light up one by one.
They kept watching until the last number was reached, and they watched some more as the numbers began to light in reverse order.
The walls opened up again and a hunky young man stepped out.
The mother, not taking her eyes off the young man, said quietly to her daughter, “Go get your father.”
An Amish lady driving her horse
An Amish lady was driving her horse-drawn buggy to town with her young son when she was stopped by a highway patrol officer.
“I’m not going to cite you,” said the officer, “I just wanted to warn you that the reflector on the back of your buggy is broken and it could be dangerous.”
“I thank thee,” said the Amish lady, “I shall have my husband repair it as soon as we return home.”
“Also,” said the officer, “I noticed that one of the reins to your horse is tied around your horse’s t-e.s.t.i.c.l.e.s. Some might consider this to be ‘cruelty to animals’ so you’d best have your husband check this, too.”
“Again I thank thee,” the Amish lady said, “I shall have my husband check this also when I return home.”
True to her word, when the Amish lady returned home, she told her husband about the broken reflector and her husband said he would fix it right away.
“Also,” said the Amish lady, “the policeman said that there was something wrong with our emergency brake.”
