All the numbers on this clock are completely backwards and upside down!
It can feel a bit confusing when you try to read a clock like this.
Most clocks have 12 at the top, 3 on the right, 6 at the bottom, and 9 on the left.
On this clock, the number 6 looks like a backwards ‘e’ at the top position.
The number 12 looks like ’12’ written upside down at the bottom position.
Even though the numbers printed on the clock face are mirrored, the clock hands still work in a normal way.
Let’s break down the puzzle step by step to find the correct time.
First, ignore the strange printed numbers and focus on the positions of the clock hands.
Think of a standard clock face that you use every single day.
On a standard clock, 12 is always at the top, 3 is on the right, 6 is at the bottom, and 9 is on the left.
Now, let’s look at the short hand, which is the hour hand.
The short hour hand is pointing straight to the left side of the clock.
On any standard clock face, the 9 o’clock position is located directly on the left.
Since the short hand points to the left, the hour is 9.
Next, let’s look for the long hand, which is the minute hand.
The long minute hand is pointing toward the top right side of the clock face.
Specifically, it points to the second small tick mark past the top 12 o’clock position.
Since each tick mark represents one minute, pointing two marks past the top means 7 minutes.
Therefore, the minute hand is showing 07 minutes.
There is also a red hand on the clock face, but that is just the second hand.
To tell the main time, we only need to combine the hour hand and the minute hand.
The hour hand shows 09, and the minute hand shows 07.
