When the waitress in a New York City restaurant brought him the soup du jour, the Englishman was a bit dismayed.
“Good heavens,” he said, “what is this?”
“Why, it’s bean soup,” she replied.
“I don’t care where it’s been,” he replied. “What is it now?”

Again, the man looks at her and answers, “A quickie, please.” This time her anger takes over, she reaches over and slaps him across the face with a resounding “SMACK!” and storms away.
A man sitting at the next table leans over and whispers… “Um, I think it’s pronounced ‘Quiche.'”
