Halloween is a magical time for children because they get to escape into a fun world for a day and dress up as something completely different, not to mention the candy they get to enjoy.
There are usually standard Halloween costumes for kids, depending on what’s popular that year. Most boys want to dress up as their favorite caped crusader, book character, or scary character like a zombie.
But one boy knew exactly how he wanted to dress, and it didn’t involve a costume you could buy in any store.
“We left two Halloween stores empty-handed, he didn’t want to be one of the characters,” Imgur user BScribbs wrote about her son.
“Sunday night, I just told him to choose his favorite hero and that I would make the costume the next day,” she added.
When it was time to go trick-or-treating his mom wrote: “No one knew what my son was for Halloween and he didn’t care.”
When his mom asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween, this sweet little boy’s eyes lit up and he shouted, “Daddy!”
“His Dad works long hours and rarely has a day off. He runs a kitchen in a restaurant and comes home every evening greasy, smelly, and exhausted. He works very hard to provide for his family.
“But he’s damn proud of his son, and when my son rang the doorbell and yelled all night “Trick or Treat – I’M MY DAD!” to strangers, it was clear he was too very proud of his Dad too.”
What a fun and inspiring way to celebrate the hero in most children’s lives: their dad. It just goes to show that heroes don’t need to wear capes to be the biggest deal in a child’s life.
